White BOPP film

Flexo printing on flexible packaging film during high-speed production

White BOPP film — strong opacity, consistent branding and predictable line performance

White BOPP film (biaxially oriented polypropylene) is one of the most versatile graphic carriers in flexible packaging. It provides uniform coverage, high colour contrast and stable web handling on VFFS/HFFS and flow-pack machines. For marketing it is a clean, repeatable brand base; for production it means reliable sealing and shorter start-ups; for purchasing it ensures predictable total cost and availability.

White BOPP film — when it works best

Choose the white version when:

  • strong brand identification and readability are a priority

  • you want to hide the product or structural elements (e.g. seals, windows)

  • you need a uniform background for small typography and codes

  • consistent appearance between batches and production sites is required

Typical applications include confectionery and snacks, dry products (rice, groats, cereals, muesli), coffee and tea (as an outer layer), dairy and frozen foods (high-strength laminates) as well as non-food products (accessories, household chemicals).

White BOPP film and print quality

The white base is the “perfect canvas” for graphics. It offers:

  • high opacity — reduced dependence on a white underprint

  • full colour saturation and sharp detail edges

  • excellent readability of small fonts and codes

Printing is carried out in flexo technology up to 8 colours with register control and proof-to-print consistency (“proof = roll”). On request we combine matt/gloss effects (varnish or lamination) and a metallised look through the appropriate laminate structure.

Performance on the line — web stability, sealing and friction

White BOPP film has good stiffness and wrinkle resistance, therefore:

  • it forms predictably on the forming set

  • maintains even pouch “shoulders” and straight edges

  • seals consistently once temperature and pressure are set

The key factor is the coefficient of friction (COF) matched to machine speed and guiding systems. We also select sealing strength and temperature to ensure quick start-ups and smooth running without micro-stoppages.

Designing graphics on a white base — practical tips

  • Contrast: use the white background to enhance brand colours and negative typography

  • Technical areas: plan “no-print” zones for seals, easy-open/laser score and date coding to avoid corrections

  • Windows: combine white with transparency using soft frames and transitions to avoid hard edges

  • Matt/gloss: delivers a premium effect on white without losing information readability

Summary — White BOPP film
